HARPER'S RESTAURANT GROUP
After managing several restaurants in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, and Washington D.C., North Carolina native Tom Sasser joined friend John Collett in 1987 to establish Harper's Restaurant in Charlotte. Sasser and Collett brought in Collett's brother Robert, and friends Hugh Bigham and Bill Branstrom to form the Harper's Restaurant Group partnership. The company now operates the Harper's in Southpark (1992) with Harper's ToGoGo (Southpark, 1999, Uptown, 2004), and Harper's Blue Ribbon Diner (Uptown, 2005), as well as establishing Harper's Restaurants in Columbia, SC (5 Points, 1990), Greensboro, NC (Friendly Center, 1993) and Louisville, KY (J'Town, 1995). Harper's Restaurant Group operates Charlotte fine dining concepts Mimosa Grill (Uptown, 1994), Upstream (Philips Place, 2000),
Arpa - Tapas-Wine Bar-Grill (2004, with new partner Pierre Bader), and Zink American Kitchen (Uptown, 2004). Harper's Restaurant Group offers full-service catering through Harper's Group Catering (1995), and even serves food and merchandise online with ToGoGo.com (2004). In March of 2007, the company opened a new Harper's location at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville and in July the company opened M5 a Mediterranean restaurant in the Southpark area of Charlotte. |
